7mm rem mag twist

If one was to build a 7mm rem mag today, what twist would be the right one to handle say 120gr copper and 160gr lead?
Thereby covering uk deer stalking at one end and the possibility of overseas bigger stuff “one day”.

8 twist. Bullets always get longer, never shorter.

Standard twist rate is fine for that. 1/10 or 1/9 is standard. Used 162g amax + 130g TLR's

You don’t want to be going shorter. Mine is 26” that I use with a Jet Z on the end. I don’t find it a problem whatsoever.

I just wanted to share my experience having a 7 rem mag built around a sendero doner rifle recently. I had seen Gary from B E precision start advertising on here and being fairly local started talking to him about the fact that I was after a new 7 rem mag built on a sendero action. He managed to go above and beyond finding me a donar rifle in .300rum and then re barreling it to my spec and fitting a bix nd Andy trigger. Today I had my first opportunity to get it set up despite picking it up 6 weeks ago (been flat out culling) and I was over the moon with how it performed. I’m running it in...

As above mine is a 1-8 twist. Completely future proof for any long monolithic projectiles plus handles any standard bullets fine you may be fine with a 1-9, but you are giving up nothing but going 1-8
