Had my variation approved so on the look out now. Only interested in side by side at the moment.

Interesting choice! Judging from a quick bit of Anglo-Teutonic Googling, neither 7x57 nor 7x57R seems to be a common calibre for that kind of rifle.

Chapuis offer a 7x57R side by side double. I handled one years ago it was a great gun. I just purchased a Chapuis REX side by side in 30-06, very nice gun, shoots well. I had a gunsmith make me a 7x57R double 30 years ago out of an old Belgian 16 bore but was not like a Chapuis. I came across a Holland & Holland 7x57R side by side about 20 years ago in their now closed New York shop, it was $75,000 but the nicest gun.

I have a number of drillings in 7x57R, its a very nice caliber, the rimmed cartridge is a slightly reduced load compared to the 7X57. Good luck in your search.

There have been a few small bore doubles in the Holts auction of the years. A number of continental makers build double rifles

Merkel, Chapuis, Kreighoff, Blaser all do them as well.

A cheaper route, but of no less quality is to go for a good combination gun - many in 7x57r and 7x65r with a shot gun barrel. Then an einstecklauf in the same calibre. It’s what I have done. I usually keep it as a combination as its lighter, but on driven or big woodland deer the double barrel is added!
