Opposite end is the 375 Cheytech etc. These are long range sniper cartridges to give more the energy of a .50 BMG, but with trajectory more like a 338 Lapua Magnum. A club member has one. 20lb in weight rifle with muzzle brake. Recoil is minimal but he generally has the firing point to himself. It was £5 a round, these days probably nearer £10 as its burning 130 to 140 grains of powder at a time. It’s pushing a long 300 plus grain bullet at well over 3,000 fps
A lot of these bigger sniper rifles are being used to take out equipment. A single bullet rattling into engine , cockpit or control panel of a fighter jet, helicopter, comms panel or armoured vehicle soon renders them inoperable for many hours or days. A half competent sniper can easily enough hit such a target at a mile if not more, so the security zone around such assets has to be a lot bigger. And a sniper rifle and cartridges is a lot cheaper than any missile, and cannot be jammed like a drone.
