95gr SST .243 with Vhit

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has loaded SST with Vhit N160?

It is not listed in the hornady book, only N165. What would be the benefit of N165 over N160

Does anyone have any data on both?

Cheers

I was also looking to go down the same route, 95 grain SST with Vhit. But due to lack of load data, I picked up a tub of Superformance powder, thankfully my local RFD has plenty of the stuff.

Happy with the results, .5" groups at 100 just under 3000 fps with my rifle.

Hornaday load data below

As Pablo says, it can be a bit tame, I seem to remember getting excellent results with 43.5 gns of n160, but obviously that was in my rifle, not yours, so work up carefully, you should find a good accurate load, relatively easily.

Was this with 95gr SST or with another combo?

Yes I have used 95gr SST with 43gr N160 in my .243 Tikka. It averaged about 2760 fps out of a 24 inch barrel and grouped well.

N550 for 95gn bullets in .243, N160 for 105gn. As stated above 43.5gn of both powders give excellent fps with a long barrel just build up to that load.

Used N160 with .243 alot. Cant quite my load as its above Viht max. Not by much though. Always found viht data a little tame.
Looks that way. The sierra app shows the 95 gr blitzking with 6 powders giving 3100 fps, RL16 (RS60) giving 3100 and RL19 topping out at 3200.

I’m able to get close to viht speeds (2800 fps) with my 25-45 and a 100 gr bullet! So the viht data for .243 is definitely conservative.
