9mm Destroyer

I just picked up a 9mm destroyer with the bolt stuck in the action.

The extractor collar is broken and stopping it coming out.

Can anyone advise me how to get the bolt out?
Leicester Shooting Centre used to have one. They use 9mm Largo ammunition (from memory) which was a straight wall case (from memory).

If the bolt on any bolt action is fully closed I suggest rodding the barrel to see if the rod goes all the way down or stops say one inch short of where the bolt face should be. To see if there is a loaded round stuck inside just to be safe. Similar to checking an old muzzleloading arm.

The OP says that the bolt is halfway out? That he can see down the barrel? In which case I'll leave him to see what others suggest to sort it.

You can also use pliers to squeeze the feet / hooks together, and then to stop them opening up, tie thin steel wire around before letting go with pliers

I am assuming you know that there is a special knack to removing the bolt in these - I can’t remember but something to do with aligning the locking lugs with the recesses at the rear of the receiver. If you force it and try to open it like a regular Mauser you will break it. Ammo is 9mmLargo and not Parabellum though some have been converted for ease of feeding. Predecessor was the El Tigre.

I didnt know this. I have been speaking to an amercian who had one with the same problem. He said to removed the ejector and trigger and hammer the bolt out. The collar expands when not holding the extractor and you have to force it out.

From what I remember, this might be helpful and work for a functional gun - yours might be broken, I can not remote diagnose.
Here is the correct sequence:
1. Lift the bolt handle and pull the bolt fully to the rear as if you were opening it normally.
2. Align the locking lugs with the two recesses at the rear of the receiver. These recesses are on either side of the bolt raceway.
3. Lower the bolt handle while the bolt is still fully to the rear. This is the unusual step people forget.
4. With the handle lowered and the lugs aligned, pull the bolt straight out of the receiver.
Cheers

This appears to make sense. I assume you also need to withdraw the ejector and pull the trigger?

Mine simply refuses to come any further. When the extractor collar breaks is springs open slightly jamming the bolt.

I am wary of falling the USA advice and starting to belt with a hammer!
