Some years ago 150 miles from home staying at relatives we needed to go to the local shopping centre for some bits. It was a hot day and I decided as the dog would be in the car for a maximum of 30 minutes we would leave it until the next day when it was much cooler and dull. So the next day being suitable off we went, dog with water and windows open we nipped in the shop.
15 minutes later my partners phone rang. It's the police for you. Why were the police calling her phone for contacting me.We were in my car and independent phone accounts.
So I took the phone, we have a dog unit with your car could you go back to it please.
22 minutes since we left him we arrived at the car police officer stood by it and 3 ladies hovering in the back ground.
First words if it had been yesterday I would have broken your windows we are empowered to do that. So I replied it's not yesterday, it's today.
I don't like your attitude he said, I have put my hand through the window and the cars not hot.
So I said what are we doing here then and we went back to the I don't like your attitude, I opened the tail gate gave Sam a fuss. Then we went to his bowl is empty, I replied it's still wet he's just finished it, to the reply well he's dehydrating with no drink, I replied on that basis so are you and me as we don't have a drink at this moment, attitude again. I said it's explanation and I work with the police frequently, I have no intention of disrespect or attitude, I am a responsible dog owner and appreciate the concern over the dog but that with good intent it was unwarranted on this occasion.
We finished up sat on my tailgate him fussing the dog and having a chat. I thanked the ladies for their concern.
