A good read on owls V rats.

One of the most beautiful of birds as well, to see one flying right towards you with that huge wing span, is a sight to behold. Seen a good few in the last year or two, they seem to be doing very well, which is no bad thing.

There are always a few around here. One of the problems is that there is also a large number of tawny owls, and they tend to claim the best nest sites and drive the barn owls away
A good friend of mine used to keep and care for rescued barn owls until they were ready to be released - truly beautiful birds.

I am guessing you would be living fairly near the Barn Owl Trust. My kids went to school with one of his, he often takes a Barn Owl into the school for the pupils to get up close.

An old lady near us has rescued Owls, often see her in her garden with a Barn Owl. Stunning bird.

Not many farm buildings, old barns etc, without an Owl box nowadays, great to see.

I'm guessing you mean the Barn Owl Trust at Ashburton, if so, I know it well. Peter Ramsden used to run it but it's been a long time since I was there, although I'm quite close to it.
