A little introduction

Hi all
I'm Darren or Daz.
I'm based in Lancashire, close to Preston to be a little more precise.
Im 40 years old and have been shooting since I was 13.
Started with airguns as a kid doing bits of hunting and plinking then up to target shooting. I competed for many years shooting hunter field target to a decent level of success, making the England team and top 10 in the UK multiple successive years. Since then I've enjoyed shooting shotguns, rimfires, archery and most recently I've picked up a 6.5 creedmoor.
I'm looking to get set up in time for the season opening.
Looking to join to get into the hive mind if deer stalking and maybe some info about reloading and general chit chat with Like minded folks.
Hope that's sufficient as intros go!

I'm sure you're selling yourself short there I've been looking into prs comps to get me dialled in and for keeping me out of trouble until the season opens. Have you tried anything like that or know of clubs that hold shoots?

Whilst I love shooting and fieldsports I am an average shot at best. But happily so. If you are serious about comps etc i would contact the likes of @Ronin, who is relatively local to you, or @NRL Hunter UK who seems pretty active. You have to look at what they’re doing and be impressed, showcasing a lot of skill and talent. A great advertisement for fieldsports and responsible gun ownership.

Awesome thank you for that I'll have a look at that. I'm serious about committing to look into it I've always enjoyed competing and the NRL / prs seems like a scaled up version of what I spent many years doing. I'll certainly check out the NRL hunter UK thread

Thank you. I must admit the pressure to introduce one's self is a little bit daunting! However it's seems I'm in good company here and feel right at home already

It’s a great resource of information and help - you may want to check out UK Varminting also , which is another good UK based forum

There is plenty going on in the”northern wasteland” in terms of shooting activity

Quite a few people offer stalking and there are several clubs for target shooting - PSSA Diggle, Blackburn Riflemckub, Red Rose , Gardners at Eskdalemuir for the adventurous - they are a very friendly club and have ranges (indoor firing points at 100/200 mtrs at longtown and out to 2000 mtrs at Eskdalemuir

The also out on several comps each year

In addition to this is NRL Hunter UK who host matches nationally of both 22 RF and centerfire variety
