A Sako to consider

The Sako S20 looks interesting for those who want or need a takedown rifle with a detachable magazine. Thumb hole stock and modular design for those who like that sort of thing.
Chambered in .243 to .300 win.

I bought a Sauer 202 so it’s not like I don’t like synthetic stocks or modular rifles. But I don’t like the look of the new Sako

Simply made to fill a gap in their line up from the look of it. And I’m normally a fan of a synthetic stock. Not this time though

Either get what it's trying to be, a TRG with a thumb hole stock (not that is succeeds). Or buy something else. A Sauer 404 maybe? Even a 202 would be more of a rifle.

/A Sako fan
I would like to think it’s a good idea. But as another Sako fan I have a 75. It just doesn’t appeal to me, the look is a case off put politely “What the heck were you thinking”.
I honestly think they missed the mark with this design.

I've an s20 in 6.5PRC
What I'm asking to a rifle is to be very accurate (having an excellent barrel) and to have also an excellent trigger.
The other aspects, I almost don't mind. I don't care too much about the cosmetics.
But this rifle is a fantastic one (for me)
:)

If you want sh*te buy the Sako, if you want the real McCoy, buy a Sauer. Simples.

I picked up an S20 recently and it’s even worse than a T3 lite....and that’s saying something!

at least the Sauer composite stocks don’t sound like an Aldi Tupperware box when you tap them!

I agree with what maxwal said, not what I expected from Sako.

@ gixer : the products from Sig Sauer are sooooo good that the company is closing at the end of 2020 - that's a pity

I picked up an s 20, and I'll pick up a second one ;)

All the best from France

jp sauer and Sohn have been building firearms since around the 1750’s....sig sauer is a sister company.

I don’t think there’s much to complain about with a sauer...

you’ll maybe need the second one as a spare I guess...🤔

all the bst from Scotland.

Don't worry
I've few Sauer in my cabinet also ... and for years (mainly Sauer 90)
I like Sako as I like some others - I'm not addicted to any rifle supplier.
Have fun :)

I will say I like the older 85’s...and I have a Sako product in my cabinet but I don’t think the S20 stock and mag is up to standard for the price. 👍🏻

Fixed it for you! 😂
I've got two TRGs so I ain't got nothin' to be jealous about...

Of course it's a good rifle, it´s a Sako. But it´s not half of what it´s marketed to be. There are a lot of things they could have done better. Continuous rail for one, quick change barrel for another. A stock that doesn't give you a feel of "Ugh!" when you see and touch it.

They are relocating to USA because they get a bigger market with fewer resrictions. The "unlawful" sale of firearms to Argentina(?) put serious "knots in the knickers" of the EU.
That the price will drop due to removed import licenses won´t hurt them either.

I would love to @Border but The New Zealand reviews were done months ago and now that the rumoured pricing has become a reality, as usual with Sako products I won’t part with my hard earned for something that I regard as too expensive for what it is. I love the design but I can put a very accurate barrelled action into an alloy chassis for considerably less than the retail price of the S 20.

The thing that makes me laugh about so many forum comments is the wholesale dislike of modern materials. For someone like me who uses a rifle as a tool in every meteorological condition from snow to humid heat, who chucks the rifle in the rifle rack on the front of the quad, who uses it as a trekking pole to get up and down the muddy hills, polymer stocks and aluminium chassis are pretty much standard issue. A lot of shooters are obsessed with their rifle’s looks, which is no different to many aspects of design engineering. It’s the old function over form versus form over function argument. Each to their own and I look forward to hearing more reports from the field on how the S 20 delivers.

I'm more than happy with mine.. great fit , great hold with the pistol grip..great trigger, plastic stock is grippy where it needs to be! Recoil pad is soft as fek so the 308 recoil is barely noticeable. Its not the lightest but its perfectly balanced! Provided u use a lightweight mod if any.. barrel seems to stay cool very effectively compared to standard barrels.
Magazine seems cheap n plasticy but it works so whats the problem 🤔
Seems to be pretty accurate as u can see with the pic of top 3 shot group.
Its no more capable than my a7 or t3 lite but I like it a hell of a lot more so good enough for me!
