A short buffalo catching read.

Excellent read fella, tough people.
It half reminded me of the book We of the Never Never, I read it before we went on a drive around WA and across to Katherine.
After days on the road in the summer, camping out at night under the stars the thermal Springs at Mataranka were a welcome relief for a couple of days.

On a lighter note I have been enjoying the larger than life antics of Milton Jones at Coolibah Station on Youtube - looks like fun!!
The vehicles for live bull catching are a bit safer than in Kim's day!!

Ah no, Pommie born but always Aussie at heart - Mick Dundee settled that one.
I had met a few Aussies whilst at Uni so as soon as I had finished the options were find a job in the UK or travel and Oz - no contest.
Jumped on a plane to Dehli, up to Nepal for a bit if trecking and a bit more India and eventually Oz on a tourist visa.
Went to Melbourne to stay with an Aussie mate I had met when he worked in the UK.
Being a scientist by training I ended up getting a job at a company called Bio Nova International in N Melbourne which grew arterial bypass grafts in sheep (Omniflow) so....................
I applied for a passport on the basis that I had skills that no one else in Oz had and got it.
I became an official Aussie in Collingwood town hall along with a Canadian and lots of Vietnamese and Chinese (I kid you not!!)
We sang Waltzing Matilda (joking) and I went home with a wattle tree and citizenship certificate.
And you will get this, to wind my Vic mates up I supported West Coast Eagles when they were trained by mad Micky Malthouse and eventually went on to win the Grand Final - my mate supported the handbags and was properly f'd off when after a good start Dermott Brereton who had gone off concussed came back on kicked a goal and the Hawks went on to win the Grand Final. As a Pom it was the most brutal game of anything I had ever seen.

Not sure why I ended up back in Pommieland but I did but the plan is to get back out to God's own mate!

Ah a great recount too mate. I share your appreciation for one of the hardest toughest games on the planet.
