As you may have read on here, I will soon be starting a new job with the Forestry Commission as a trainee wildlife ranger. Trouble is I have to find somewhere to live. I'll be covering the Central England area, and be based at Fineshade, so ideally need to rent somewhere within 30 minutes of there. Stamford area, or Peterborough or somewhere around there.
Added problem is that I have my dog and my firearms, which rules out quite a few rental properties. I haven't got a very big budget either.
If anyone has an annexe or small cottage to rent, or knows of anything, I would be glad to hear about it. Even if it's just on a temporary basis until I find something else. Something on a farm would be ideal.
Thanks for reading.

Can the FC provide firearms storage facilities? I know of at least one FLS office that has a cabinet for the rangers "company gun"

Might be worth asking the NFU to put an advert up both in paper and digital form. Local facebook housing/rental groups usually good for leads if not actual properties.

Presuming firearms are being used under Crown Authority, storage just needs to comply with whatever @Mouse 's line manager is happy with, no plod involved.

I would assume they would also be happy to put an ear to the ground for you? Worth checking local estates as they may have a cottage available and be understanding to the needs and budget.

Happy hunting!

Well done on getting the career move Mouse but that area is extremely expensive to rent. I would suggest edge of Corby may be cheaper. You could also try Milton Estate Peterborough, Deene House or Buccleuch estates at Broughton House.
