Adjustable IR torch mount.

Looking for a decent adjustable IR torch mount.
Alternatively i’m just considering shimming a fixed mount?
The adjustable one i have seems to have a fair bit of play in it.
Cheers.

Yep those adjustable ones move a lot even just switching them on.
1 inch optiloc's have been great for me, dont move a bit and are zero'd every time I fit them.

I've use a couple of these from Ludicrous Lumens.......

They work well

I prefer the type in post #2. There are different quality ones, you cannot really tell before you get it in your hands. I don't mind the play, because torch always returns to center. In fact you can force the torch a little if you want to temporarily have the beam higher etc. There are higher and lower ones, I prefer lower.

Have used Optilock and Burris, they adjust quite smoothly but problem is if you bump them you need a tool for readjusting.

LL mount doesn't adjust very smoothly, might have to polish them (I have few). Also you have to get them real tight to prevent "bump adjust", and the beam moves a little at the final tightening. Also the picatinny interface isn't the best (bit play there also, depending on tightening).

That's what I use, tried a few & reckon they're about as good as you get

I mount both Ward Blade and LL Wraith in mine and have to say - apart from when it gets whacked in the Gator - I've never experienced those issues with my LL.
Maybe i've got one of the newer good ones.

I have the "newer good ones" also, but I also like to use tight beam a lot and it's PITA if the beam isn't where I want it.

Different people have different expectations on their gear.

At the start of the session I adjust mine at max zoom on the scope and tight beam on the torch, then really tighten up the screw. It's as good as all the others I've tried and better than some. Each to their own I suppose :)

Thats a decent method i reckon. Tight beam, max zoom at the start of the night then off you go.
I’m going to order one from LL.

I’m not really well versed in nv and i still need a bit practice with different settings on scope and ir.

I’ve owned thermal spotters and scopes for a few years now, just added an NV/day scope to the collection to ‘Scratch an itch’ if you like!
Cheers!

What I forgot to say was that after I've set up the torch, as described above, I open up the beam to wide and zoom back x5mag for ease of picking up a fox quickly.
