Advice from a grumpy old man

As an owner of a 30-06 CZ555, that took many deer in the hands of it's previous owner and has so far taken a lot of paper deer and two real boar in mine, I recognise the truth of the post, while also acknowledging that this is possibly a master level copypasta.

It's a lovely cartridge, it's a lovely rifle, but it does use 20% more powder than my 308 for basically the same thing!

It is not copy pasta. It is100% the real me. The .308 is not the same as the .30-06. If you want to shoot something big, the .30-06 is much better with heavy bullets

The 30-06 is just another cartridge that is no better or worse than .308, 7x57 , .270, 6.5x55, etc,etc for any European hoofed game. I've shot every thing from Muntjac to moose with my .308 including plenty of boar. They wouldn't have been any deader shot with a 30-06. The game I've shot with my 8x57jrs aren't deader than with the .308 it's just more fun shooting them with the double rifle.

Not matter what I tried there was a longer blood trail in 270.
I feel you need 2 projectiles for close and distant. That's one thing the single shot is handy for. Walk with the fast expander and switch over for a long.
Same with the 30 cal.
Sika and Reds are a totally different size aswell.
