Advice on buying rifle in UK for export to Ireland

Speak with Alan Rhone, I seem to recall that he maybe registered as a RFD in both ROI and UK.

Contact Top Gun Sports, in Louth.
He will sort it out, its straight forward North of Ireland RFD, will get it shipping to North, then taken to RFD in Louth.
All above board,

Buy it from somewhere else

Shipping to NI doesn’t require export

It’s a simple RFD trabsfer

Sort your paperwork on the southern border side and collect from and RFd in NI

Absolutely simple process

Yes I agree. My problem is countrymen of Derby won't transfer it to N Ireland

Also it's a secondhand rifle. I've been on the lookout for 4 years & this is the first suitable 1 I've found

Probably a strange 1 but I'm wondering if anyone can advise or help me. Long story but here I go.

I'm based in the Republic of Ireland & have found a rifle for sale by Countrymen of Derby that I really want. Market in Ireland is so small that this will 99% never be available here. Id like to buy it mainly for its stock to use on my existing stalking rifle

Here's where my problem lies, Countrymen of Derby aren't in a position to export the Rifle to Ireland or Northern Ireland(I live close to the boarder)

My local RFD will be in Wales in January & is willing to do the export paperwork to bring the rifle to Ireland for me where I'd swap stocks & re sell the rifle to recoup some costs

Countrymen of Derby are willing to sell the rifle & transfer within the UK only & it can then be collected in person by my RFD with the relevant paperwork for export

Countrymen of Derby require the rifle to be paid for by the UK purchaser in order to do the transfer
I presume this is a UK paperwork thing?

I have offered to pay in full for the rifle in advance & also asked a rfd in Wales if they could help out & id be happy to pay their fee.
Unfortunately they refused to help

Am I fighting a loosing battle here, it's starting to feel like I am.

Any advice would be appreciated

Damien
Contact below they will advise & import the rifle for you

I have to say guys I'm blown away by the help I've been offered
4 members have offered their services either through a massage or on this thread itself
I'm going to call to wildrover 77 tomorrow as he was first to message to help
I keep things updated re how the help progresses with hopefully a picture of my 7mm08 carbon lite in its new carbon wolf stock at the end

Everyone's replys, ideas & messages have been heartwarming & it's great to see a community work together

Some of use (as displayed) like to help where we can and are not exponents of treating clients / customers as cash cows

There is quite a bit of chat one hears about creating communities and developing relationships

Unfortunately when it comes down to it, if money is involved that rarely happens ,,,,,,

Yes I agree. Usually in my experience the small to medium guys have a more personal experience & go the extra mile for their customers

Suppose it's like comparing Tesco to the family run local cornershop where the owner knows his customers

Well after alot of fantastic offers & help from many members, usual delays on my side I finally have it done.
7mm08 stainless from a sako 85 carbonlite in a Carbon wolf stock.
One of a kind I'm told as gmk couldn't supply a stainless action in the carbon wolf stock.

Fits like a glove with zero fettling needed.
This 1s a keeper. Love it!!!

Special thanks to Wildrover 77 for all his patience & help & Stalking Directory for their cool members.

Hopefully I'll christen it tomorrow evening with a freezer filler Red.

Now to sell on the .308 minus the stock & the carbon lite stock to re coup some costs🤣

Result - well done!
Be interesting to hear your views on the rifle compared to your .308. From what I gather recoil is noticeably lighter but not a lot of difference in power….

I've had the 7mm08 for 2 seasons already.

The 308 was bought just for the carbon wolf stock. Nuts I know but its what I wanted.

The 7mm08 is slightly lighter, kind of in between 243 & 308
I shot a 308 for 3 seasons & it's a great caliber But I do prefer the 7mm08
