Advice please - need bipod for a Marlin

Hello all,

Can someone please advise of a bipod that will fit a Marlin 1895? Specifically the one in the attached photo.

A regular Harris or Harris type similar/knock off bipod wont fit properly because the front stud wont support it and it wobbles (trust me I have tried a Harris plus 2 similar types)

Any suggestions or recommendations will be gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Alex

For bench use I’d stick with a front bag, but would something like this work? Vanguard Porta Aim Gun Rest

I've got one of them, or something that looks just like it. Works well enough for what it is - and won't ruin a nice classic Marlin.

I don't think there is a suitable adapter for fitting a Harris bi-pod to a lever action rifle. There again personally I can't imagine why anyone would want to fit one as using a lever action prone off a bi-pod isn't going to work very well, besides it being just not the done thing with such a classic rifle. Why not just use your rucksack or shooting bag for support, or even your binoculars (taking suitable precautions to protect them)?

Nice rifle in a great calibre - I should know I've got one! 😁

For zeroing I use an MTM Predator gun rest or as others have said use a bag. Just my opinion but I don't think a bipod would look right...

What an emotional bunch of souls you all are! Ok I know it wont look great but I was zeroing in off car bonnet and wanted to be rock steady with it. With hindsight I can utilise a sack or similar just for this.

The vanguard rest will also be perfect for it.

Thanks to all who replied.

Just roll a blanket up buddy.

I couldn't care less what other people put on their guns (aesthetics etc)

But bipod is not "technically valid" solution for such lever action.

Regarding the "rock solidity", pay mind where you put the bag, how you grip the rifle (preferably hand between forend and bag) and also you don't want to rip your rear bag with sling stud. And test the POI on sticks also, or whatever support you use in the field.
