AEGIS, is it as good as Goretex?

Hello All,

I have an older Swazi Tahr which uses Goretext rather than the new which appear to use Aegis. I know and tend to love Goretext products and am a little dubious to spend a lot of money on a product I know nothing about.

my question is therefore; does anyone use the latest Swazi gear incorporating Aegis and is it as good as Goretext. In particular with regards to its breathablity ?

Regards

Yes.

The same rules apply, if it has a breathable membrane it will at some point leak.
You take your chances with when that will be.

I recently sat out in a high seat for 3 hours in torrential rain wearing my Swazi Kagoule.

The rain was so heavy that I had to regularly empty the puddle of water that gathered at my waist when I was sat down!

Despite the horrendous conditions I remained, warm and dry throughout, was very impressed even if my perseverance didn’t result in a Sika stag.

Cracking deals on all things Swazi at Swillingtons too.

regards

Evening All,

Thank you all for your responses. I must admit I am feeling a little more confedent. It’s nice to know that Swazi haven’t lost their touch.

Many thanks

Goretex will supply a company with enough membrane to make a few jackets for evaluation, that includes sending few jackets (or whatever) back
to Goretex for testing to destruction, if they are are happy with the product, and feel it will live up to their keep you dry for 5 years claim they will sell you membrane.
Other companies are not so particular and just want to sell their product.

Neil.
