Just a warning for anyone travelling from Manchester Airport, I have just been advised that Firearms will no longer be carried by the baggage handlers,so if you have booked a flight like i have be warned you cannot travel with it,best contact your travel agent and look at alternitive Airports.

Three of us travelled with Air France, on the return journey two of our gun cases had very visible footprints on them, we went straight to the complaints desk, already had 5 people there complaining of damaged hold luggage, we asked them to arrange a secure viewing of the contents of our gun cases. My mates binn's were damaged, and my Leopold V111 4.5x15x50 long range scope visibly damaged, the staff were totally indifferent to our complaints. It took almost a year of constraint phone calls followed up with lengthy letters to get compensation, they sent a Mickey Mouse type plastic gun case to replace the metal one!! and denied any lack of care on their part for the scope damage, I took pictures of the footprints at the complaints desk and of the damage B4 I left the airport. In the end I gained a new case and scope only by going down the small claims court route. I have flown with B.A. and Air France, and cannot recommend either companies for carrying firearms or their service, SAA were very good, but by far the best all round service was with Virgin, clean aircraft and nothing was too much trouble on board by the flight attendants. deerwardenAndy,
Which Airlines baggage handlers?
Air France had no problems with me today when I informed them and got confirmation.
HMRC handle firearms, not security or baggage handlers, on the outbound.
