Air rifles Upgradable to FAC?

Obviously I assume it's not just change a part at home since it's restricted and would need to go to a smith and be done officially

but I'd feel dumb if I find out later I should have looked out for a certain type as the upgrade is easy rather than sell and rebuy once I have a slot
On my daughter's sub-12 air rifle, it's just a case of poking an allen key in through a little hole to engage with a hidden screw head, and winding it up.
It goes up to insane power, no fancy tools and no 'smith needed.
Not that we would ever do such a thing, of course.....

(It's a Ripley Rifles custom build, btw).

Tsk tsk, I cannot imagine anyone wanting to do that, humph👮‍♂️.

Who sells them?🥷

If it's not down as an FAC air rifle doesn't just the ability to do what you've said make it one therefore illegal if not on FAC.
Not that we know

Nope.

It has to be set at over 12 to be an fac. Most rifles are easily tuned, doesn’t make them fac

Similar to the old Falcon fn12 trick with the rubber bands 😗😎

Sounds like an FAC PCP that has already been de-tuned to sub 12, would be the best bet, the licensing might make it difficult, though.

Most rifles can be tuned to +12ftlb but some don't take it to well.

Most air rifles for sale in the UK are designed for 12 ftlb from the ground up.

Personally if you want an fac air buy a built for purpose one like fx or daystate that's designed to be used as an fac air rifle from the ground up.

Also you face the problem of tuning a sub 12ftlb one up to fac then they are worth nothing!

Actually The HW80, 77 etc and similar are made at a higher power. Anything connected to the USA likewise etc etc . It is the UK who are the odd ones out regards airgun power . Having met with a man who was shot in the head with a 12 ftlb by the guy next door , he technically died a couple of times on the helicopter ride to hospital and a kid was shot when two young lads found the dads air air pistol a shot to the chest killed one poor lad . I am sure there are more than we think !

Hi.

I've been offered to take some rats out at a farm where I've been doing pigeon previously
I'm planning on getting an air rifle for that

I don't have an FAC currently so would be getting a sub-12 one but are any of the PCP ones Upgradable easily later on?
I have FAC application in for deer calibre now but could add FAC air if this goes well

S510 comes in both FAC and non-FAC version so might be possible to upgrade
As stated

I have an S410 which is pre anti-tamper so if you were so inclined and had the weapon registered as a firearm on your license (of course, m’lud) then by simply removing one grub screw and turning another the power can be adjusted up to about 30ftlbs.
On the US version it has a power wheel where this grub screw is and that allows you to simply dial in whatever power you need.

Not worth looking for something upgradable then?

getting a decent second hand one i might be able to sell on later at little/no loss was my backup plan just covering the bases
No, you'll lose money on it if you 'upgrade' it.

By a sub 12 now, when and if you get your FAC, sell the sub 12 and buy something that is already an FAC rifle - even if its the exact same rifle!

Sub 12 ftlbs is fine for rats around buildings, get a .177.
Don't bother trying to change a sub 12 into an fac, not worth the hassle, fac air rifles 2nd hand are a pig to sell and you can get some very good rifles for not a lot of money.
I use an FX Crown VP in .22 FAC for ratting, awesome tool for the job, 160 shots from a full cylinder, accuracy like a laser, and tunable if you want to start fiddling, although I almost left mine as it arrived out of the box.

Enjoy your ratting.. I went last night and got 99 :tiphat:.. great fun.
I would have stayed all night to get 1 more🤣
