Air rifles

Absolutely no need to spend a lot on an air rifle for this.
A cheap, Chinese QB78, CO² rifle in .22 would be just the tool for this job.
OK, you have to buy the little gas capsules, but they can be had dirt cheap.

Just looking at a comta ? If that’s how you spell it £150 seems not to bad for a springer and has good reviews I would really like a pcp but can’t justify buying all the tackle to go with it seems expensive to buy it all new even second hand

Hello, What model, ?? Did you check out on big dans web site, If that was me it would be a Cometa 220 Carbine in 22 and Hawke scope

Go in on a night time with a small lamp on your air rifle to shoot them. Thats very effective!

Red sub 12 if your going throughbthe hassle of an air rifle license id get a nice pre charged. They dont cost the earth tease days. Air arms are nice and not too spenny.

Sure it was the 300 and I watched his review he said it was punching above it’s price point and it seemed to be very accurate that said he is a much better shooter than me

Im not sure it’s a 22 I was looking at. Im not sure on the silly muzzle brake thing on the end though but can’t really complain. I need it for a job so not fussed on how it looks as long as it’s accurate and puts pests down clean that’s what matters most to me

Just thought I would ask a question to see what you guys thought . I have permission on a friend’s farm who lets me do some pest control every now and again pigeons, crows ect all with my shotguns and who has very nicely gave me permission to shoot foxes and the odd roe so he has let me put his land down for my FAC application ( still in process). Issue is yesterday when out shooting on his farm he had mentioned about the pigeons in the shed that are s***ing all over everything I think hinting at me to have a go at them. Problem is I only have a shotgun and would need an air rifle Due to the pigeons being inside the shed. Would it be worth getting a sub 12 air rifle. thing is I live in Scotland so that would mean applying for my AWL so that’s an expense on top of a rifle. And seems a lot of cash to spend just to help out with some pigeons question is if you guys think it’s worth doing ? And if yous still use your air rifles ? Also what’s the process of applying for an AWL ?
Cheers Jim
I think others have covered this.

Now thirty five years ago I used to shoot deer on an estate in Scotland. This was in the days when my FAC had the words "for target shooting and deer stalking". The AOLQ (any other lawful quarry) wording didn't then exist. It was made known that if I were out on the hill I could be asked to shoot any fox that was seen. So I asked my issuing police to change the wording go target shoogting, deer stalking and the shooting of foxes". On the wisdom that refusal to shoot a fox would likely not see me invited back to shoot deer. In fact a fox was never seen. But it was worth having the authority just in case.

I'd also therefore urge the OP to apply for permission to acquire a sub 12 ft/lbs ACCURATE suitable air rifle. Any decent springer up to power will suffice if accurate. So see if you can test over a chronograph before you buy.

A worn out BSA Meteor running at 8 ft/lbs will not do the task. A modern made BSA will and, as said, a springer will be adequate for feral pigeons and saves the hassle of air tanks, CO2 canisters and the like.

If the OP looks on the internet there are places...the Wolfman Store or iHunter that do sample packs. In sib 12 ft/lbs for a springer the lighter the pellet within reason) the better. For a PCP in sub 12 ft/lbs the heavier the pellet the better within reason.
