Alan Myers 4 bore at auction

We have an American outdoors humor writer (Patrick F McManus) that wrote about a gun that “kills at one end and maims on the other”. I think this gun fits that description

I have an 8 bore muzzleloader, yet to fire it though.
I bought via mail a bunch of stuff including bismuth *££££ ouch back then* from Alan in the 80s for my double Zabala/Elderkin SBS which is now sold on via SD.

These big bores are a delight to shoot. Just like a gentle shove on the shoulder rather than the jab of a 12. The cost of cartridges kick like a mule though and your pocket will be sore for a long time

A crowd of us shoot 8s.
Most made around 1875.

64 gram load. Full choke. 12-13 pounds.
Load your own with blue dot.
Cut your own felt and card wads.
Shot cups are 12 bore paper cases less brass.
Take them to Scotland and shoot lead.

£3,400 + £856 so to pay is £4256 which makes the cost of the bismuth pale into insignificance although lucky lads in Scotland can, as said, still use lead.
