ALANTOO - Obituary

Thank you so much for posting this.

It is a beautifully written obituary, and reinforces the sadness of Alan's untimely death but also the amazing life he led and the inspiring body of work he created. It leaves a profound sense of regret at not having endeavoured to get to know him better. Who would have guessed that such a talented, renowned and generous craftsman dwelt within SD?

I can't quite make out the details in the photo of the weathervane mentioned in the obituary. However it looks to incorporate the outline of the White Horse of Uffington, which I can see if I walk a few steps away from our front door. Whether it is or it isn't, when I see the real thing when I get home tomorrow I'll spend a few moments in silent thought and prayer for Alan.

A genius has left us. Looks like he has passed on some of his skills to the younger generation which is no surprise really. RIP Alan. You have left your mark on this world!

A humble but virtuous man. A man to be envied in his skill and foresight.
An awful way to go but the flower of his genius will remain as will the memories of his friends.
