ALANTOO - Sad News

It is with great sadness that I report the untimely passing of Alan Evans (aka @Alantoo) this morning, following a short battle with a very aggresive pancreatic cancer. Some may have noticed his reduced commenting on load development (especially copper) and Wordle posts as his illness progressed. Unfortunately, it is only in recent years that I became aquainted with Alan when he voluntered his garden and Magnetospeed to help me ascertain the balliastics of a new round to my preferred stalking rifle when FLS demanded factory-loaded copper ammunition; I deeply regret our paths did not pass sooner. A master blacksmith with many an interesting tale to tell, Alan was a gentlemen of the old school and an accomplished stalker. My thoughts are with his widow Lesley but I am heartened by the many friends who have rallied in recent weeks to help him as he stoically attended to as many of his affairs as possible.

RIP Alan

Very sad news indeed & he had warned me that it was imminent a couple of weeks ago. We corresponded regularly & I had intended to drop by to see him next time I was working down south. Sadly not to be.
Thinking of his family,
John

That is incredibly sad news to read.

He had an attention to detail that I could identify with. I recall making him a leather belt pouch for his multitool. I laughed when we had our back and forth conversations that went over tiny and almost foolish idiosyncratic measurements to ensure best fit. I hate wasted effort and I got the sense he never wasted much. Everything was for a reason.

Never met him but felt I knew him somewhat. For that I am glad.
