A final post from me re AlanToo.
Alan's funeral was held on Tuesday. It was very moving to see just how many people had turned out to pay their respects to this modest, kind and remarkable man. Alongside his wife, Lesley, family and closest friends, were beaters who had walked the fields with Alan on countless drives, fellow deer stalkers and members of the local HAD team, not to mention blacksmiths - so many blacksmiths! - each carrying a hammer to raise in salute as Alan was carried to his final resting place. That so many people, from so many walks of life, should come together to mourn his death reflects the deep impression that Alan made on all those whose lives he touched - and how much he will be missed. Including, of course, here on SD.
