Aldi Inspection Camera (borescope)

I’m not sure that this will be any good as a bore scope as the focal length (focus) starts at 3cm which may be to far to be an effective borescope...................£40.
Certainly most of the stuff on eBay starts beyond this 5/6cm which renders them useless as the focus is too far ahead to effectively inspect.

Might be with a punt. selling them from this Sunday

Ebay do a USB one that attaches straight into your smart phone or laptop for about £9. There was a thread on here about them last week.

I took the plunge and bought one and for £40 (bit of an impulse buy) its not a lot to splash out and it can be used for other things (I can look at my piles should the urge come upon me).

For the money its very good, the focus is slightly too far in front (3cm) but you can still see all you need to see if ever so slightly out of focus (0 to 3cm). The diameter is 5.5mm so fits 243, 308 etc and fits down my 22-250 (wish I hadn’t looked).

The trick to any of these type of cameras is the focus point so if you are wanting to buy off eBay then make sure that the focus point/distance is as near as possible, I have found one thats 2cm for £6 from china and I have ordered it (sad I know). Most of the stuff on eBay tends to focus at 5 to 6cm which is no good.
I guess the bottom line which is echoed on other threads is do you want or need to see down your barrel. If its accurate and you are happy with your cleaning routine then its a no. I took a look down my 22-250 which is a real tack driver and it was not a pretty sight.
Its a bit like when the doctor sticks a camera up your bum and asks if you would like to see the monitor. My answer was that, I appreciate the offer but I’m not meant to see the internal workings of my own arse.
