Altberg Defender sizing

Already have pair of Haix High Liabiltiy boots that I got for £35, brand new and boxed from a retiring squaddie.
I'd also like a pair of Altberg defenders.
I usually take a 7.5 (41) in shoes.
Any advice on size I should buy?
They'll be grade 1's off the bay.
Can't get to Richmond unfortunately to get sized.
Experiences with sizings for these appreciated

I'm a 12 wide fit in a shoe, ordered same (actually advertised as 12 large) size Altberg Defenders off eBay that were delivered yesterday and they fit very comfortably.

I also have a wide foot and went up 1/2 size and also got the wide fitting. I use mine for also running in so my feet do swell.

That said this is the advice on their (atlberg)website
"We successfully supply many boots online. There will always be an element of uncertainty about sizing but we have found the following advice works for approximately 90% of our online customers.

Medium/wide feet - go up 1/2 size on your SHOE size (to allow for thicker socks with boots). Narrow feet - stick with your SHOE size.

If you have a history of boot or shoe fitting problems it's best not to order online. You'll need to visit the factory for a fitting assessment. Contact the factory in advance - for an appointment with one of our senior boot fitters."
Hope this helps.

+1 for a factory visit. Nearest thing you'll get to a custom made boot without the gigantic price tag. Having said that, Richmond is probably a good 3 or 4 hour journey from Fife.

I found that going half a size up To an 11 worked out for me, and I am a 10.5 in a shoe all day long. I think what Mortis1975 has lifted from the Altberg website sounds sensible. You’ll often want thicker socks and a decent insole in boots as oppose to shoes.

I/2 size bigger it is then.
Thanks everybody.
Would love to go to the shop but as Swedish has said, too far.
Paradox is, before I moved up here last year, I was an hour away.

Decent chippy though

It might be worth giving them a quick call. There is a foot measurement template i used for another set of boots where i measured the length, width and circumference. They are cracking boots of you get the right pair.

I have a pair of seven sat here in fife your welcome to try them on and see how they fit. Might have an 8 somewhere save the guesswork.

Yes agree with go up half size, I didn’t as I was under the assumption they’re true to size. Needles to say they’re a tad tight with thick socks so they’re relegated to a summer boot with thin sock.

They also have some stockists where they have people trained to take proper measurements.
In Military boots, the 43L the L is large which means the wide fitting.
In Altbergs own range they do up to 8 different widths Extra Wide being the widest and I can fit them (and the L) despite having wide enough feet that I can only get into Meindl or Lowa's if i order their wide fitting in the 1 or 2 styles they have it in.

Some whinge about Altberg, there will always be some issue somewhere, but I have found them to be excellent. I have 1 military pair, 2 civilian styles and a pair of motorbike boots from them...... there repair/resole service is good as well.
