Alternative Blaser mounting

I know there’s a few ways to mount scopes to the blaser barrel, but do the picatinny rail systems work as well as the original saddle mount? For repeatability and return to zero? Anyone with any experience would great fir some info? Was thinking of having a separate scope just for use with NV, but I can’t bring myself to pay another £300 just for the mount.

Any advice much appreciated

I run a picatinny rail on my Photon setup. I kept it on the .243 R93 barrel but didn’t swap back and forth with a day scope. I can’t see there being a return to zero issue given the interface on the barrels and mounts are a tight tolerance.

However after buying the picatinny rail and a set of mounts you are getting to a fair chunk of cash that’s not actually far off a second hand Blaser Mount.

or look for a MAK Mount like I sold recently. Excellent quality with repeatable return to zero. secondhand they are about £150.

I have a contessa picatinny rail. As long as it's torqued the same each time it's mounted, it does return to zero. I just use a cheap torque screwdriver.

I’ve had a couple of the ebay zruncho/gunstar pic rails and the rear extended one has been on my R93 for several years now and the day/nv/thermal scopes are on/off every time it comes out of the cabinet.

The dayscopes on this and my other rifles with pic rails are all in the Recknagel polylever qr mounts and I’ve never had a poi repeatability problem or ever felt a shot wasn’t quite right with those.

ok.... to qualify that, there is an element of flex in the rear extended one but only if I’m resting my hand on the thermal to change the mag as the fox comes into the killing zone. I’m aware that could cause my shot to strike a fraction low so I don’t put any weight on the hand if its not moved back to the forend.

i have complete faith in it.

cheers

Tried the Zruncho extended Picatinny rail, but I was a bit unsure of the flexing as mentioned above in Fizz's post, finally went for a Quick detatch type but with no flex. The base module (the lower left hand bit that attaches to the rifle) accepts a rail for Pard NV008 and/or their new thermal sight, or Pulsar digital and thermal sights, Picatinny rail, or standard Blaser type scope rings.

Like Fizz above, 100% return to zero, and hence full faith in this system, and I'm using it a fair bit.

This steel rail (180mm) fits the above base module, in exactly the same way the rail for the Pard, the Pulsar rail or any size of the normal type of rings for the Blaser base:

Where is this rail from please

Blaser do (or certainly did) an OEM Picatinny rail, as I have one on one of my R93's.

They do come up for sale occasionally. Return to Zero works just as well as the regular mounts.
