Recommendation Needed - Direct to Tikka Dovetail Mounts for Alpex 4k

As title, what direct to rifle mounts are people using to mount their alpex 4k to tikka t3/m595 rifles?

Been let down by a set of optiloc. Would prefer to avoid picatinny/weaver rail set ups. Although seems some folk strugging with eye relief with direct mounting systems.

Left hand rifles, so sphur aesthetic out the running (been there). Quick release would be handy.

It would help if people could specify the height (L/M/H) they're using as well as brand/model.

Cheers

Don’t wish to correct you there, but you’ve not been let down by optiloc, they’ve been proven for over 25 years that I’ve known and use them!

I think you’ll honestly need to look at a weaver rail to get the eye relief fright, I don’t think you’ll get a fixed set of amounts that will do the job that you require, even if you went down the warne Mount route I think you’re still struggle with eye relief

I've used optiloc with glass scopes since 2006, but suffice to say, a recent set has let me down. To be fair, eye relief wasn't a problem.

Have you tried direct to rifle tikka mounts with an alpex? Which make/model did you have issues with? Would be handy to cross them off the list.

Any 16mm dovetail rings in high should work, assuming you can get the right eye relief. Talley, warne, Rusan, etc. don’t rely on a perfect return to zero with the lever arm type
QD mounts.

Optiloc are only bad if you don’t check ad hoc that the screw from the base to the ring has t come loose, otherwise they’re not bad.

Thanks for input. And bingo, you identifed the issue first go! I've had multiple sets, never had a problem. For some reason a recent set, which were actually the picatinny fitting version, ended up with a loose screw. I'd used a torque screwdriver on rhe bases, as I always do. Put me right off them. As you've correctly pointed out, only way to check is dropping scope and mounts off the rifle. Which doesn't sit with my "if it ain't broke don't fix" it mentality of avoiding tinkering with my set up.

And that’s why I’ll never use them or similar again. You only find out when you miss or wound a deer, and if the first you put down to user error, could be more before you start testing on paper.
And every time you do take them off to checked it’s another trip to the range to ensure they’re bank on again

I've a finger hovering over the buy button on a set of talley one piece rings, would just prefer some real world experience of the correct height before I press.

Do actually have a set of rusan steel rings that a literally a mm or so too low. Tempted to try to shim, but concerned about opening up a whole new world of variables down that route...

DNZ game reaper would be another excellent option. Heights are easy to find online.
