Hi Chaps, i have got a couple of them skullhookers from the states for mounting the heads, but does anyone know a cheaper and simpler alternative for mounting full skulls?

I put some thin steel wire around the inside skull hole through the two holes of the nostrils then attach with a loop to a screw in the wall

interested to see what you’ve mounted with them (species, photos?) I’ve only ever seen American species mounted on them, been toying with trying one for a red stag….
are you aware bushwear stock them if you were worried about shipping costs?

Fettle a piece of wood to fit inside the brain cavity. Fill the rest of the cavity with Poly-filler. Let it dry and you have something to secure your screws onto through the shield. Easy and cheap as chips!

You can either loop a wire through the two small holes in the back underside of the skull twist it together and mount it to a screw/hook
.
Coat hooks, If your mounting say red deer press the skulls up against the walls and test it with the coat hooks you might find the antlers stop you from being able to mount them! I have a skull that does this.
.
I developed this alternative idea with cheap corner brackets, Ideally you would buy cheap metal and drill your own holes so you dont see the bracket on the wall when looking at them front on (like with mine), I think combined with the above idea (drilling under the brain cavity) and bent more upwards they would sit very nicely.
This was done for a red deer so the fallow is a bit undersized, My ceilings are very low so my only current skull does not fit, antlers hit the ceiling first wish I tested it before putting an extra one up!
And for refence I just hold these up with plasterboard screws, I never bothered to find a stud they held up fine.
