As a lad I worked part time for a local builder. One of the crew would whistle tunelessly all day. I was pointed in his direction one day to collect something ... "Go and Find Thrush. he'll have it."
I remarked that his whistling was nothing like a thrush or any other bird I knew, and was told "No you silly XYZ, we call him Thrush because he's an irritating £%$& " (Insert your own 4 letter word starting with C ;) )

Having given this some thought today, I have come to the conclusion that the tuneless workplace whistler isn't half so bad as those inconsiderate individuals who play music in their cars with the windows open. They  really rile me!

The constant thud, thud thud of bass with the windows shut, how the hell they can concentrate or are not deaf is beyond me

Used to pee me off the folk going round with a sponsorship form doing a run, parachute jump, walk, swim or this or that for some sort of healthcare charity. I always refused with the words "Do you really think in the UK that we should rely on charity stunts to fund the NHS?" And suggested they'd be better organising letters to MPs to demand adequate financing of whatever it was they were collecting for.

I've worked it out, lone working was scrapped because they (office coordinators) couldn't make anyone have a bad day and now they just send texts to irritate your days graft with probably some half cocked tree hugger with his phone stuck to his head as your working companion

I had 25 years as that person as a semi 50% lone worker and but or under orders 😱 and 27 years lone worker with selected people I wanted to be work with and its been glorious with no one to explain to, i honestly and actually feel sorry for workers now its just like working as part of an AI / computer spare part, i’m well over retirement age BUT i like what i do and the people I meet or work alongside, when that goes , pack up time

The young starters in work these days have a thorny track to follow, bloody hard mental graft most of it, if it was me I would be banging my head on the wall singing dixxy as well, bored out of my skull, I take my hat off to them, it takes something to sit in a chair with some half baked section leader bleating on drone drone 😱 about someone was five minutes late and it effected the whole teams performance FMOB what a place of workplace shite god bless everyone of them

With you on that one - it’s generally matched with how they drive - with no consideration for others. It’s what grenades we’re invented for…

To be fair, I did have an advantage over many in noisy environments at work. I’m profoundly deaf so I just turned my hearings aids off…not many are any good at communicating through the medium of mime…

When you have tinnitus random whistling is the least of your annoyances. The little friend in my head playing his continuous one note song - now that is annoying
When I was working on plant/machines, it used to amuse me when a work mate would say " can you hear that hissing?" while looking at a dumper or trailer tyre. I'd say, "yes-- definitely hearing hissing" and leave them to find the puncture.;):-|
