Ammo choice for fox

I think Peter Lawman used to carry sabots for those that are interested. As to the answer to the original question. Any .308 round will do fox just fine. Have shot loads with mine when out deer stalking, have never had anything happen other than immediate death:-D

Orion said "Unless of course the discarded sabot could be retrieved from near to the firing point and assuming there was enough of the bearing surface of it intact to obtain a sample to match with".

There may not be any rifling marks on the sabot depending on the type of plastic used. Do you remember the Nyclad pistol bullets developed some years ago for use on indoor pistol ranges so as to limit lead particles in the atmosphere. After a little while someone noticed that the nylon cladding on the Nyclad bullets sealed up after leaving the barrel leaving no rifling marks. They were perceived as beneficial to criminals so discontinued.

Ok, I know this is a bit 'ballistics' a bit 'equipment' etc. but chucking it in the 'general' section anyway:-P

So, for foxing with a .308Win , what bullet choice should I look at if I want to keep the skins in best condition possible? should I be looking towards target ammo almost, or something VERY slow maybe?

150grain Nosler Ballistic Tips in .308 win
I find they do the skinning for me :D

I am not sure why you would need to choose a specific bullet for a 308 when shooting a fox specifically.....
I know what a 270 does to a fox (and a hoodie crow for that matter) and I dont expect any choice of bullet would alter the outcome
