An interesting old boy

I recently got a head out the freezer to clean up and thought I should share a brief writeup

A solid early start in late May saw me having a look round one some ground which is a mix of mostly arable, big hedges and smallish woodland blocks in North Yorkshire. Right from the off I spotted a deer a long way off behaving like a buck, so a roundabout plan was hatched to account for the wind and get into him. While cutting the distance, I could still see it working along a hedgeline towards a small patch being allowed to regen. Obviously by the time I got there he had melted into the thick cover, I waited for quite a while but nothing so I moved off to do a big loop round a longer block of woodland over the next field to only find does. After a lot of waiting and sneaking I gave up and made for the car, I was thinking to myself I should keep alert as the sign had been fresh and regular, however the route back was sending my scent ahead of me - despite this the buck jumped out not 50m from where I had lost it hours before!

His teeth were almost non-existent and had an interesting head. Despite the lack of teeth he was 46lb larder weight
