And you wonder why some think that there are issues with the Metropolitan Police and motorists...

But despite driving under the influence of cannabis, the then teenager was controversially not charged with dangerous driving, after a police investigation found he was not criminally liable for the deaths - which enabled him to avoid prison.

Just lucky really that he wasn't "driving while black" I suppose. Unlike Bianca Williams and her bloke. Still I guess, somewhat cynically, that the officers on the scene in his case probably just didn't smell any cannabis at all. How very lucky, how very fortunate. As clearly the subsequent police investigation found it played no part in any liability for dangerous driving.

Will there will be a crowd funded page for this young man also? You just can't have the son of two police officers being punished when inconsiderate pedestrians inconvenience him by getting themselves killed while he's out an about, half-stoned, on the highway in his mother's car.

Just illustrates the stupidity of sentencing guidelines. You drive a vehicle under the influence of drink and/or drugs, you kill a human being as a result of your actions - manslaughter, end of story, no excuses.

There is a drug driving limit? So despite this being for illegal drugs like cannabis or cocaine, there is a legal limit for driving.
Surely the illegality of the substance renders any residual amount in the bloodstream of a driver immediately illegal!
Or am I overthinking it?

If he has mental health issues, has killed two people, carries on driving whilst disqualified, won't appear in court, then perhaps ten years in Broadmoor may be what he needs.

Shame on two Constables for lying and very lucky that they aren't being prosecuted for attempting to pervert the course of justice regarding the Bianca Williams episode. The other three officers didn't "smell cannabis" and they have as a result been allowed to keep their jobs. Sime stops do go wrong but there's never a need then to lie. The two involved that lost their jobs couldn't leave it.

I had a brother "in the job" for twenty years. The police deserve, need, public support. Rightly so. But the also need to be beyond reproach in regards to integrity and in process. In both these cases they have let the service down and I have no qualms about making this "compare and contrast". The charging decision in this young man's case appears police decided and not even referred to the CPS. Why? What impression does that convey?

Years ago I had a girlfriend in the late 1980s who worked at the US Embassy and was what they call themselves as "African American". Black to us here. She liked her cars and drove a BMW Z3. Legally, lawfully, bought by herself new and right hand drive and on a British registration plate. She was usually stopped never less than at least once a week and more often twice a week.

Frankly what has the actions of one little scrote got to do with the retired Met Police. If you have a son or a daughter gone rogue its hardly the fault of being a retired Police officer.
As in any walk of life, there are good and bad people. No doubt many of us have met a few, I know I have. The police are not full proof, they get things wrong, as you do, me, and everyone else. But if the scentencing in this country was more rigorous and matched the crime, maybe we would'nt see so many cases such as the one you highlighted.

Even more frankly, what has the actions of one little scrote got to do with the stalking of deer and other rural activities?
I know we have an "off topic" section, but why does it primarily consist of sharing the latest piece of click bait? Are folks' lives really that dull?

Ah that's easy. In his mother's so when PNC'd on a number plate check it'd come up with her as the owner. It's not too far to work out the rest from there. The police service is a small world. Most will know the names of former colleagues especially something unusual such as "Coopey" with also his, the son's, previous arrests.

And so the vehicle was his mothers ? so what. I think you need to find something better to do on a wet and windy day. Although this is an off topic thread, I wonder at times whether its time we took it off the site, as it appears in many cases to be nothing more than trouble and has nothing to do with deer and deer stalking.
