Hi,
Laurie here from New Zealand. Avid hunter of deer (red, sika and fallow), upland (pheasant and cali quail) and small game (rabbit and hare) in the North Island, but need to find more time to spend in our South Island chasing Tahr and Chamois. Bit of a ballistics enthusiast (partly blame my time in the mob) and enjoy trying out different rifles and chamberings. I’m a fan of Euro and Japanese optics and try to be a bit of an optics snob when I can afford it. I’ve dabbled in a bit of bowhunting (feral goats, small game and foxes in Australia) but haven’t picked the bow up for a while due to a dodgy shoulder.
Heading along to my first rifle shooting comp this month – a field-type 22LR match – where I’ll compete in the ‘Hunter’ class with my annie 1416. Should be fun, but probably humbling!
I’ve done a bit of time in the UK (two separate training postings) – racking up a couple of years in the SW of England, but never really got to enjoy any hunting there. Would love to have had an opportunity to hunt Roe, and am actually jealous of having foxes?!?
Looking forward to reading along and contributing where I can.
Cheers
Laurie / nzspearo (Yes, love my spearfishing too!)
