Another outstanding trip with the old fella.

Probably the last trip on the Sika with the old fella as at 80 years old he feels the pace these days but still really enjoyed.

Numbers again have to be seen to be believed and very lucky to experience what we do and all for a swap for roe. Some big beasts seen and missed and although didn't get a shot, watched an absolute monster of a stag with probably the biggest head i've ever seen.
Weather great although very mild which maybe made the rut a very strange one with loads of action one hour and then nothing the next.

Five days is a fair shift and although looking forward to heading home the urge to go back is never far away.

One of my great regrets is not having the chance to take my Dad out stalking - we fished for trout and sea trout umpteen times over the years, but never managed to be in the same place at the same time when I was out after deer. He used to love to hear about the stalk and the shot and the day in general and always wished he'd been there with me and Mrs O. He managed to keep going till he was called to his final parade at 94 years of age, but he still liked to hear about our exploits up to his final days.....
Hope your Dad keeps at it for many years to come!:tiphat:

Cheers for the comments folks.

Totally agree with making the most of the time with each other as nobody knows when the time will come that one of us won't be there.
We have experienced so much together and obviously i have been taught an absolute wealth of knowledge regarding most things outdoor.Have shot and fished with him probably 50 of my 55 years and not much we haven't done together.

Those mentioning their own old fellas brings it home how quick things can change so never put off until tomorrow when you can do today.

He's still pretty much out daily so very active but did say this was the last trip on the Sika but fingers crossed a year is enough to get him itching again.
