Anschutz 1782

Morning all. I’m writing this to see if anyone can sympathise with a few issues iv been having with my anschutz 1782 in .30-06 (left hand action) straight out the box the rifle looks and feels beautiful, and everything you’d expect to see from anschutz. It’s around 6 months old now (got it brand new) and had around 100 rounds through it, but I’m noticing a few small problems that are really grating on me. I did some ammo testing recently in preparation form my next Scotland trip and found 180gr norma Vulcan to be the most accurate, however, every now and again a round would jump clean out the mag/action when loading into the rifle (not something that happened with any other round) so it’s as though the rounds weren’t fitting in the mag properly? It’s a 4 round mag but it can be temperamental with 4 so I only load 3. So I went back to the 150gr sako hammerheads iv been using since day one as they don’t do that…after 2 shots the third also jammed !!! This has never happened to me with these and now I’m thinking it’s something to do with the rifle and not the ammo !? Iv noticed the bolt also scrapes the stock fractionally which I don’t think is good on a £2k rifle ! These may sound like little gripes but it’s enough to make me concerned…how can you risk going hunting with the thought of “will this next round load or not” !! Sorry for the essay and thank you to anyone for reading it and shedding any light on similar problems.

My first thought would be a magazine feed issue. Are you able to check with a different magazine? Are the magazine feed lips damages/distorted?
Being dim here, but exactly where does the bolt scrape the stock? The clearance between the bottom of the bolt and the top of the butt is pretty tight, is the action correctly positioned/secured into the stock?
Have you considered taking the rifle to the dealers from where purchased to have them assess the issues?

Did you resolve your issue? I have an Anschutz 1782 left hand in 6.5 Creedmoor. The only thing I can think of would be to check your two screws that hold the stock to the action. Your manual shows you where they are and the torque value. If those backed off I can see it causing both of your problems. There must be relative movement between the stock and the action to allow the bolt to contact the stock. And that would also cause misalignment between the magazine and the action which would lead to feeding issues.

Hi there thanks for your reply unfortunately no…I ended up selling the rifle back to the rfd I purchased it from and I am now awaiting my variation to get another .30-06 this time in the form of another sako 85 ! I did check all screws on the rifle and all were fine there was ample clearance between barrel and stock perhaps the issue was with the magazine…either way i can’t help but think I had a “bad one” and once faith and confidence is lost in a rifle for me…it’s time to get rid !! Perhaps I should have continued with it but ultimately I liked everything about my sako 85 more…so another one it is !
