Any experience with a cheap escort?

I had one about 10 or 12 years ago, synthetic stocked 3" chambers. I'm not a fan of autos but I actually liked it. It was cheap and easy to clean and never had a problem with cycling. Only sold it because i was moving overseas. Im thinking of getting another one for duck shooting in the reed beds as I have managed to get my Beretta wet a couple of times.

Did you read the bit in the instructions about only using 70 mm cartridges?

had my escort marine since the week before the brexit vote, no issues until recently after thousands of rounds it started not extracting properly. Had a google, stretched the extractor spring, good as gold now and ejects 65 mm cart’s

Didn’t read instructions but did use gambore clear pigeon 32g (70mm ) and as my original post said 2.75” cartridges. I don’t think that would of made a difference to the cracked weld!

I had one for 3 years, was doing a lot more vermin control then and shot about 20,000 cartridges through it. It cycled pretty much anything BUT, the thread on the choke failed resulting in it blowing the end off the barrel. It they replaced the barrel FOC but I’d lost faith and got rid of it for a mossberg. That’s brilliant.

Had an early one, if you keep the bolt well oiled on its carrier it would feed all cartridges. Needed the shimes to make stock fit but started doing more clays and scores were always better with O/U that friend lent me and then soild to me. If you can shoot with one they are a great gun.

I've got two, 8 shot FAC and 3.5 inch magnum both do as they should.

I can carry out a Lebanese unload in a couple of seconds with the FAC (not that I do) but I have chased a few pigeons with too many cartridges.

Keep it clean to keep it mean. :)

No you're quite right it wouldn't, guess you had a bad one as I really can't fault mine I only clean every slab or so and it keeps on trucking - the 32 clear pigeons are mustard in mine, my preferred cartridge.

I know it was at the time when they was getting quite a bad press , so at the time I felt a fool for buying one it literally happened after about 6 shots! All confidence had depleted then so I swapped it 2 days later. I do agree that was an exception though, but a massive oversite by quality control at Hatsan.

I have had an Escort S/A 12G : It kept jamming every 3rd/4th. cartridge of any size; it wouldn't eject the lower-powered cartridges, and it was not worth the hassle, so I disposed of it.

I brought one for exactly the same reason as you, wanted something cheap to use wildfowling or in the hide or throw in the truck. something i wouldn't cry about if it got bashed or rusty. Must admit Im quite impressed with it for the morning. Keep it clean, it works :)
