Any foxes shouting??

Also havnt heard any calling for a couple of weeks but right back in mid to late oct we heard shouts going on then seen a pair chasing each other around and pairing up seemed early to us lots ao shouting then in mid December then came to a stop about Xmas time
As per norm for most areas mate .What most are hearing post Xmas are dog foxes looking for that one last Vicky not taken yet .You can’t educate some folk mate ,they know best 😎
Dog call nothing like the vixen but I’ll wager some think it’s still in season vics calling .
There will be litters born here already and someone will dig a litter soon ,under protection of game birds of course .

Vixens are in heat here right now, always around about January 21st ,always have been, they will pair up end of November start of December, but there not necessarily in heat at that time just because they start barking/shouting the earliest I have seen cubs is the middle of March if you add the gestation time (60 days) they will be born up here late March early April,I’ve shot many a vixen at this time of the year, with people saying it’s full of Cubs and ready to drop anytime now until I have opened them up and found a belly fool of food and no Cubs visible, atb w

Always seems late here, Powys borders don’t hear the first call till we’ll into November ( I listen out when I take the dogs out around 9-30/10pm)….. they’ve been calling like mad for the last four weeks…. Mostly dogs ‘wha-wha-wha’ but the odd vixen ….. this vixen I shot on Monday and no real evidence of cubs…. It was only last week I saw two chasing each other around….

when a vixen is in heat there will usually be a few dogs around,I’ve watched dog foxes running almost flat out with there nose to the ground barking like mad only to notice a vixen a good bit in front,w

I shot five foxes Tuesday evening the first three all come steaming into vixen in heat call
The funny thing about it was the very first one was a vixen

Yep , I've had dogs come to dog fox mating call and vixens to vixen mating call and foxes all year round come to cub call.....there is no rule book 👍

Riding out this morning and going through woods saw dog and vixen coupled up not 20 yards away.
Tusker

Must be very different up a down the country .I know several people shot wet vics already .I hate foxing this time of year for that reason .

Never shot a nursing vixen, I cease end of Feb…. Start again when the nights draw out in October….
If I had my way Andy it would be the same for me but if the chicken farmer shouts I will attend .I try study the animal in the nv but have got it wrong on occasion .Looking for and dealing with cubs is a ball ache ,detest it .Adolescent cubs fair game mind .
I hate seeing wet vics on social media knowing full well the cubs arnt going to be looked for .
On the flip side ,this time of year coming up in terms of actually doing good is the time to kill them .Territories are set up and take longer to fill than winter time where foxes roam miles .
My main ground has already had lambs taken ,a sure sign cubs are about .
Won’t be long before I’ll get a call I know it .
Ive dug vixens in the past with chocolate coloured cubs ,eyes closed where the chambers are stuffed full with dead lambs half eaten .

Different areas ,different scenarios I guess .
I do know of a lad who’s shot 5 wet vixens in the north of Scotland already which tallies with my own findings .
Not looking forward to it but I’ll be obliged to shoot wet vics very soon .

Finally! A good 3 to 4 wks later than norm the rut is on here🦊🦊. Barking soon after dark so after tea had a quick look with the thermal and spotted a pair doing the business not 200yds away. Crept into them and had the vixen 1st then dog came back within 15 mins. Walked across 2 fields, another dog wow wowing. No3 down. Hung around spotting and listening for an hour then wondered back across 2 fields back home and intercepted another dog coming from same field as 1st pair. Happens every year usually between Xmas and 5th Jan. Still nice to get them cleared up as lambing starts in Feb😉

Gone quiet my way.
