Long shot...but seeking any members which are mechanics in close proximity to Edinburgh, looking for an honest view on my L200 and works required, before taking in for MOT.

Yup, £40 is the cheapest inspection out there!

I look on the MOT as an annual safety check these days, rather than a chore. If anything needs doing, you can get it done safe in the knowledge that the rest of the wagon is decent enough

I used to just send my vehicles in for an mot and whatever they needed I done but some things that might need done are not part of the mot inspection and I got caught out a few times , also, if your vehicle fails on multiple advisories and your wanting to sell it on it’s easy for an interested buyer to look up its mot history and check what it failed on and if there’s a list as long as your arm they get put of a bit as they think the worst even although you have done the work and mot’d it , this isn’t always the case and most people are understanding so it all depends on the buyer . I try to do as much as I can to the vehicle and get somebody to give it a quick going over for the hidden wear and tear .

Yes same here ,same garage 11 years always honest no surprises.
And if buying a " new " 2nd hand car Mot checker is free and lists pass/ fail and advisors so no secret shockers
