Any sauer 202 owners used cerakote..?

I am now an owner of a sauer 202 lightweight with the plastic stock, I'm thinking of giving it a bit of a spruce up with a carakote finish. I have seen a few different ideas of colour schemes but am having to really think hard about moving away from black on the action and barrel.

Is is there any other sauer owners who have changed the colours with cerakote for a nice colour scheme?

Not done it as yet but been thinking about anodising the action as apposed to cerakoting.

Any reason why only Sauer owners can answer?

Cerakote is a very nice finish and can do everything from a traditional gloss blue through to Zombie Green or Prison Pink if that's your thing. A no brainer for rifle finishing and protection - without ruining it.....!!

It was directed toward sauer owners because I was hoping to see some pictures for inspiration. I had seen a pic of one who had the action in black and the barrel in a lighter shade. It was a subtle change and looked different from the norm :)

I would go with barrel and action the same colour. Probably mounts too. If you want detail, you can pick out screws etc in different colours - perhaps bolt? Remember the stock can be done too to make it really different. Titanium is a current favourite for me and Barrett Bronze. If you look at the Cerakote website there are loads of pictures of different projects for inspiration, as there will be on the various Cerakoters individual websites and Facebook Pages.
Tactical Coatings UK regularly post pics of their work on their FB page for example.

I have just had a Sako 75 re-barrelled and cerakoted in gunmetal grey. My choice of colour was inspired by Paul O on here who had posted some pictures of his.

The finish is excellent and looks good too. It was done by James Clark (jager SA on here).

I did enquire about cerakoting the stock but James advised that cerakote would not stick permanently to the Sako synthetic stock. I don't know whether that would apply to the Sauer 202 synthetic one though. Perhaps give James a pm and seek his advice ?

Cerakote is only as robust as the surface on which it is coated. So it's easier to chip any coating on a softer surface than a harder one - even if the coating is hard. I've had both wooden and synthetic stocks done and they seem to be lasting well. Every coating will wear in time - but then that's just an excuse to re-pimp your rifle.....!!

Eric. James said that the Sako factory synthetic was made of a substance that was too oily to reliably take the cerakote so that's why I gave it a miss.
If I get on well with the .260, I plan to get in touch with Gr1ffer again and enquire about one of the Staffs stocks. Good excuse for a re-pimp as you put it.

Mistake number one. Plastic.
Mistake number two. Plastic
mistake number three. Cerakote or whatever it's called.
Fir goodness sake, it's a Sauer. Stop mucking about!

Krylon and other paint companies make aerosol paints which will stick to plastic... originally made for outdoor furniture. They come in bright colors, white, black, green, brown, grey, and in camo colors. They stick to ABS and even HDPE. ABS, being the plastic of car bumpers, really takes paint well. A lot of folks have used it on Remington 700 stocks, and there are good articles and videos on YouTube showing how to create patterns.

You can hydro dip the stock to anything you want.

I've used the Krylon paints on both stocks and barrels. (two different varieties) They work quite well and 'touch up' is fast and easy. My 6.5x55 barrel got a coat of OD green and despite having been used hard it still looks remarkably good. Prep is everything. ~Muir

Ay up Jacks. Took me a few months to decide on what to cerakote mine. I spent a lot of time in the gallery section of their site looking for rifles similar to mine.
Some people will not like the idea of cerakote on a upmarket rifle so that's just summat to deal with :) I'd love a best London black but the price is several times higher than cerakote.

In the end I settled on one of the many silvers for mine. A bit of contrast is no bad thing, especially against a black stock.

Cerakote has the great talent of making a £1,000 gun look £300 and a £50 gun look just that... It's a bit like putting Nurburgring stickers on a Stanna stairlift?

Arh but it has a great knack of making a £500 gun look new again RD especially when jäger SA does it I'm very pleased with mine and would have a tired looking gun done again .
