Anyone here work in Oil&Gas in Scotland?

Did you try Wood procurement ?
Most platforms actually get someone to collect ignition cartridges during their home leave

Think every company has designated persons who have shotgun licence for the job of relighting the flare stack

As above .... personally on core crew normally has shotgun cert .
Last time seen it done waasa single barrel Cooey.. and lad took box of shells to light it ....
Lot of platforms use basically a beefed version of peizio ignition

Paul.

Bumped into a guy returning the gun to Neil Anderson at Seals Cove a few years ago. If you can track him down he knows the right people

Don’t work in North Sea anymore but I have a Flare ignition users certificate.I did have the industrial firearms on my license. The company that did the course and looked after the guns was INS Aberdeen Ltd

The guns used are just 12 bore single barrel we had baikal but these were swapped out for modified brownings some on fac (under 24”) some on SGC .
If you want anymore details send me a pm

I can still contact one person(owner) who was involved in one of the training outfits if required, PM me.

I was on a rig with twin flare booms.

Rumour had it that the chap with the gun was stood at the wrong flare trying to ignite it whilst crude and gas was ****ing out the other one….

All I know is the rig was covered in crude. Took ages to clean up,
