Rifles

Apologies Tim. I did read your kind PM. I thought that you might not be able to accommodate the thread as I'd originally thought it was 1/2" UNF but it turned out to be 1/2" UNEF. The alu one I have now is 15mm in length and 0.793" outside diameter. The end of my barrel as it meets the thread is 0.634".

Is your tapped bar 1/2" UNEF then Tim?

In an ideal world Id have made one up from steel to be 16mm (the 15 is just very slightly short) long and tapered slightly to match the barrel contour. I could then use standard cold blue I guess to finish.

Crikey, just get Mike or any other 'smith or hobbyist turner to turn one for you. Albeit a simple turning job, I'm sure it will be first rate from Mike.

Regards,

Tim

No problem, you need to get a Myford with milling attachment and some tools...lol

In answer to what kit I have, it is far more than 90% of SD members...If not I go to mates who have.

There's a Myford Super 7 with gearbox and cabinet on Ebay I just noticed for £3150. I'll grab it and should have that thread protector done in no time! ;)
