Apparently this was for their own good?

I had not thought of it like that but you're absolutely right ie the wolves. The tiger cages I find equally depressing watching them pace nervously all day while people ohh and aww. I've often thought of sneaking into a zoo at night and chucking a few goats into the big cat cages. Let them be a tiger/lion/ leopard again if even for just one night. Bet they would sleep well the next day.

They did similar in China, put live cows into the lion enclosure, shock horror, the west was outraged, yet quite happy to watch Attenborough on sunday evening

Wolves are wild animals that have a place in their own ecosystem. That place is not Kent. They are not rare, or endangered. Why have we got them caged up ? The answer is ........money. They provide revenue for someone (who will profess to be an animal lover ). The sooner zoos are made illegal the better.

I dont quite agree with zoos being banned, some zoos/enclosures are absolutely not suitable however.

One thing too keep in mind though wolf pack structures are incredibly dynamic and sensitive at the same time too be quite blunt I really dont think we have even a fraction of information from this entire situation one small issue can toss the pack into a dysfunctional mess that could be as simple as the female rejecting the breeding male, and the sons are stepping up (not exactly the most common, there pretty decent with non-direct incest in the wild admittedly)

You've potentially got a breeding male that wants too remain as so, and the two sons that want too with absolutely no option of dispersal so there only option Is too challenge the father if there personality is more bold.

You've now got three male wolves that all want too inherently lead a pack and be at the top of the pecking order thats..... not exactly rehoming suitable by any means, how many zoos have a single female wolf?

The female probably did nothing wrong I admit but many zoos chose too PTS a group of animals that are either old age or unusual circumstances so none suffer, especially wolves with how pack orientated they are.

That must have been a cage full of miserable animals. Never to be able to actually hunt 😔

Almost as depressing as the tiger place on the IoW, seeing those creatures caged in such a totally unsuitable environment and climate is the most soul destroying experience of my life.
You never saw Siegfried and Roy in Vegas then 🤮
