I have joined BASC but have not contacted them for support. Two ques
Three questions:
Are you a member of any shooting organisation, such as BASC?
If so, have you contacted them for support?
What Police force area have you applied to?
cheers Pedro,When and if the FEO mentions them, as everyone above says be honest about the circumstances. But also emphasise that it's not something you would do now, that you've grown up and learnt from that behaviour and it's been XX years since you were that person. Letting them know that your past in that respect is a closed door is half the battle.
If only the youth of today would realise how their behaviour might affect them in ways they can't imagine later. I suspect you might be OK. But in today's climate and the ever shifting sands of police procedures, it certainly helps to do all you can to explain your youthful carefree attitude has been replaced by the mature family orientated man you are now.
SunnyDays, thanks very much fot this, i really appreciate that tip, i'll contact them on mondayMay I suggest that you call the Scotland team, asking them to speak with your local FEO and Licensing Manager. From what I hear, BASC and Police Scotland have a rather good working relationship.

that's unlucky, better not walk under any laddersI was also convicted and fined for the heinous crime of forgetting to renewal my TV license
Tell me about it. I was a student at the time and didn't realise I wasn't exempt. Criminal record for life. For a f*cking TV license. The law really is an ass, but you're over a barrel regardlessthat's unlucky, better not walk under any ladders
a friend of mine got into a protracted battle with them, the enforcement guy was clearly used to being told to do one, so was shocked when Luke invited him in and them marched him round the house. "but but you really don't have a TV?"Tell me about it. I was a student at the time and didn't realise I wasn't exempt. Criminal record for life. For a f*cking TV license. The law really is an ass, but you're over a barrel regardless![]()
Yeah. Because TV Licensing is essential to a peaceful societyLaws separate civilised society from anarchy, and most people prefer the former, so deal with it!
Have you tried cakemy FEO will not accept tea coffee or biscuits![]()
By the Ocean.Have you tried cake
Thing is, most of us DON'T get up to that sort of stuff in our youth at all. And in this say and age, those sorts of conviction even if 30 years ago absolutely can be a block to FAC. The OP absolutely should apply and be honest about it all, but it could be a bigger issue than some are making out. Anything to do with violence or aggressive behaviour is a red flag for FLOs, and rightly so. The main thing is to be 100% honest. Don't try to spin it or BS. Make clear you're not that person any more and reinforce all of the time that's passed without doing anything wrong etc.30 years good behaviour, what's not to like.
A youthful indiscretion, you were caught others weren't.
