Application for shotgun certificate (have 30 year old convictions)

Thing is, most of us DON'T get up to that sort of stuff in our youth at all. And in this say and age, those sorts of conviction even if 30 years ago absolutely can be a block to FAC. The OP absolutely should apply and be honest about it all, but it could be a bigger issue than some are making out. Anything to do with violence or aggressive behaviour is a red flag for FLOs, and rightly so. The main thing is to be 100% honest. Don't try to spin it or BS. Make clear you're not that person any more and reinforce all of the time that's passed without doing anything wrong etc.
yeah that's why i asked, i don't and never do assume anything is a given, i've been totally honest all the way

Hi there,
I'm doing an application for a shotgun certificate.
I am almost 46 and was charged and convicted of assault and breach of the peace when i was 16/17 years old so almost 30 years ago.
At around 17/18 years old i was charged and convicted of driving without insurance or tax on a provisional licence, i had a qualified driver with me, it was their car i was driving.
Since then i've had no further contact with the police but got a fixed penalty in the post for speeding back in 2018.
I'm wondering whst's your thoughts on this? do i have a chance of being approved or am i wasting my time?
I have bought a police approved cabinet and key safe aready so if i do get a visit i can show them i'm doing it right.
Cheers for your thoughts guys
Be open and honest with the police. Key is section 21 of the Firearms Act. The Home Office Guidance to Police on Firearms is well worth a read through. This is what Police Firearms Licencing should adhere to when assessing suitability etc.

The key bit is section 5.5 which I have screen shot below. Unless you received a 3 plus year term in prison and / or are still an aggressive nutter with all sorts of problems such as constantly being sacked, multiple broken relationships etc etc and on the police radar for all sorts of other matters you should be fine.
