Arken Zulus Question

Hi Guys,

A question re: Arken Zulus 5-20 RF with BC.

On the optic there are the pre-sets (A,B,C -etc)

I presume I select one of these as live by going into the zero option, selection the appropriate lettered profile, and then 'saving'? ie: A is set for one projectile zero, B for another, and then if i switch projectile I select the appropriate live zero in the scope by 'saving' on that letter in the zero selection option?

Secondarily, I've created different profiles in the app for different ammo. How do I upload the correct ammo profile in the app to the corresponding ammo profile on the scope (IE: A,B,C,D) - as described above?

The instruction manual has alot to be desired.

Thanks all.

To your first question:
The letter selected in the Zero reticle menu becomes the active zero profile when the left button is long pressed and the zero reticle menu closes
To your second question:
Ballistic profiles created in the app can be sent to the scope by two different methods
a. You can send a single ballistic table to the scope using bluetooth and then selecting Ballistic Table in the ballistic options menu
b. You can send up to 5 ballistic profiles (one at a time) to the scope by wifi.
If using this method, the you need to select which of the 5 letters (A-E) each ballistic profile will be sent to
You can also create ballistic profiles directly in the scope without using the app.
IMHO, the only advantage of using the app is that you can create more than 5 ballistic profiles and give them names whilst ballistic profiles created directly in the scope are only identified by a single letter (A,B,C,D or E)

I have better instructions for the use of the app and setting up ballistic profiles in the scope but the documents are too large to upload here.
Give me an e amil address and I'll send them to you

Cheers

Useful thread this as I have been thinking of getting one partly for the ability to choose between multiple zeros and ballistic profiles and I was wondering how simple it is to switch between them. Thanks

I’ve just sorted it using the manual MJ sent me. Super simple doing it within the scope itself (needs the latest firmware update) - but note if you install the latest firmware it wipes your scope so write down all your zero settings beforehand.

Hi sorry for jumping on this thread but I was going 2 put up a question about recoil on the zulus .I've had it just over a month r so and moved it from my rimfire with no problems on to my 22.250. Trying to zero the zulus this morning on the range and it started to switch of from the recoil. Any help would be appreciated or is it faulty...thanks..

Ahah! My Zulus did the same thing in a mildly endearing random fashion - usually when squeezing the trigger whilst shooting a fox! Then on successive range day outings performed flawlessly!
MJ - the SD guru (bless) recommended attaching a little magnet to the battery (see Zulus thread) to improve contact whilst another member recommended tightening the battery cap really firmly. I ordered the batteries but whilst awaiting their delivery went for the second recommendation and have had no issues since! That said I am keeping the magnets to hand….

Brought it to the range also 2 show a few the zulus as id raved on about it, but can't see them buying one anytime soon..lol...After 5 r 6 shots starting switching off so googled a bit about last nite and came across some of the threads. I've ordered the magnets and will see how it goes and do some more testing but it doesn't leave me with much confidence when out hunting Charlie .I'm wondering Would this not of been rigorously recoil tested in production for centerfire calibre rated rifles ..

Hmmm. Mine switched off on the mildly recoiling .222 and recoil recording doesn’t work!

It could be just certain units 🤷‍♂️I wouldn't be happy or confident going out with it now on the 22.250 so I'll wait till I'm back on the range next week .I'll do some more testing when the magnets arrive 2 c if it solves the problem but also read that the nipple battery unprotected might work as its a little longer...

I sent mine back after the shut downs impaired it's performance. The new unit hasn't done it but I do tighten the battery cap more now.
The Zulus uses two springs, one both ends of the battery. I believe, without a shred of evidence, that is where the fault is!

Seems to be the case Smelly - cranking the cap down appears to have cured the unwanted loss of picture and recording - when I remember…

The cap did seem 2 be on tight enough but I'll not get testing the zulus till next week, I'll give the magnets a try and hopefully update back on here. If the unit is still playing up what is the procedure, do I contact blackwoods about a return 🤔...

Hmmm. After advice from Blackwood Outdoors where I bought the Zulus, I went for the 35mm - works a treat on my Remmy 700…
