Erm....this is a piece of journos imagination filling a paper....why not wait to see something from the Home Office?
I just do not get this - Ive never had an FEO seek to blame gun owners. Some might be slow and not really know much about shooting, stalking or firearms in general but they are reasonable people who are simply trying to ascertain if youre a nutter/idiot/ intemperate/hold views incompatible with firearms ownership. Provide them with good reason and be in good standing and there isnt an issue. If you have mental health issues, go to your doctor early, if you post racist or other inciting posts on social media, expect to be turned down. Whats hard about that ?As always make it look like the gun owners are the problem.
Basc have a response on their website.Deafening silence on this from our representative bodies?

Was not suggesting the FEO see gun owners as the problem, we keep them in a job, but the government obviously conveniently suggest we are the problem, otherwise publicly they have to acknowledge that the system failed a system they are in charge of.I just do not get this - Ive never had an FEO seek to blame gun owners. However it looks still be guidance not primary legislation so chief constable may well continue to as they please.I received an email in my Inbox from BASC at 15:57.
It points you to their response on their website:
Medical issue left unanswered in Home Office firearms licensing statutory guidance
New government statutory guidance for firearms licensing published today has failed to solve the issue of GP involvement, says BASC.basc.org.uk
Nothing from any other organisation mind.......
They probably want to assess whether or not the applicant could afford a crown court appeal, which would mean very senior officers having to appear and be cross-examined by a barrister who will know more about firearms law than he/she does. Also look at your financial records, all getting very silly
They didnt this pm or its not obviousBasc have a response on their website.

Regarding social media checks…how on earth will they know what you use?
Same when entering the US, they ask about your social media accounts and user names, how many people actually complete/answer that section?
