ATV flail mower

Don't skimp and and buy a cheap one..... ive just literally almost broke my foot trying to get the barsteward thing off the towbar of the Honda!... needed a jack and then it slipped and landed on my foot..
The cheap ones are cheap for a reason... poorly made to the point the wheels aren't even straight and when they are on the rear setting you have to have 2 men to lift the drawbar to get it on the quad.
I wanted a secondhand logical they are a good machine and parts are readily available.... my boss wanted to save 600 quid and bought a nasty Chinese thing from quadparts.uk .... its now no use as it can't go on the honda.... (towbar too far under the back and too low)...... ive heard we are getting a new quad (polaris) but not sure when....

Alot of folk use the Chapman on the moors and for rough stuff.... expensive though!!

Now where's that bag of frozen peas...............

Would it not be easier in the first instance to get an agricultural contract to tame it. When done buy a suitable machine to keep on top of it. My mate in Devon was having big issues with rides and a chat to localfarmer sorted issue didn't take long with a big tractor mounted topper.

Sorry to hear about your foot! To be honest mate, I'm not a fan of stuff that doesn't work for long. I reckon a Logic machine with the wheels alongside is the way forward.
Regards, Rob. 👍

Evening, mate. I did wonder about this, but the last wheeled machine that tried to cut it gave up due to punctures. Ahem....., and lets not forget the excuse to spend some extra time on the little crawler. 👍

Thanks for your reply, mate. I need real world answers rather than the sales patter of the agents.
Regards, Rob.

Hello, chap. I've never seen one fitted with a handbrake before! All joking aside, they do appear to work well for what they are. I was looking at a machine with a Briggs and Stratton motor on it. Not a Honda, but beggers can't be choosers. 👍

With the wheels in the trailing position they are heavy to lift. I fitted mine with a jockey wheel for easy removal from the quad and moving it about in the barn by hand. I fitted two clamps, one for the jockey wheel and on the other side for a non adjustable metal leg as the weight of the mower will flatten the rubber tyre on the jockey wheel whilst its stored over winter. Plus no fear of crushed feet or injured back.

I have a sickle or finger mower for the higher parts. Twin wheels single axle, even so get's stuck in the bog at times. Great for taking brambles down.
