Hi Guys, I've just listed a front-mounted ATV Flail Mower up on the Evil Bay that I recently bought as its sadly not what I really need for mowing up on our shoot
Offering up on here at a discount for SD members......
So, its a Kellfri front-mounted ATV 1m cut Flail Mower in extremely good condition, fully functional with a good easy starting non-smoking 4-stroke engine. It comes complete with Kellfri's extra cost add-on Universal Attachment 35-UNIFVKMATV (see last picture) for easy attachment to the quad.
However, copying someone else's who had modified it to pick up on a 2" US-style receiver fitted at the back of the quad, I have similarly extended the mounting frame and added a 2" drop-down mounting plate which uses the Universal Attachment quick attachment fitting so that fitment/removal of the flail only needs the removal of 2 Lynch pins. This also means that the mower is being pushed by the rear axle of the quad and not the front, something I think is preferrable. The previous owner of the flail had modified the front of the chassis rail to incorporate a recovery winch pully so that the winch load is halved.
My modifications can easily be removed and the mower mounted to a quad using the Universal Attachment by simply removing some bolts and re-fitting the axle plates and U-bolts. Moreover, the additional steel box sections are full length so can be easily adapted to fit quads with longer wheelbases by simply drilling 2 additional bolt holes. Similarly, it can be shortened although I wouldn't advise going smaller than my Honda TRX420 in size.
It comes complete as originally supplied, including the side shift mechanism (removed as I didn't need it - not shown in the first set of pictures but shown in the next set) and with a full set of Kellfri instructions and parts catalogue. It goes without saying that the quad is NOT included!
Its collection only from Bristol BS16 1FY (5 minutes from M4/M32 junction) as its dammed heavy - about 170 kg all in and can be a struggle to move on its rear roller when not connected to the quad so I'm happy to assist with the loading if required. Be warned, its wider than my 4' wide Ifor trailer so had to go in at 90 degrees. It measures 1240mm wide by 770mm high and about 700mm with the side shift / mounting cradle removed. I could possibly get it up to near Stroud for collection.
Any questions, please message me direct.
Thanks for looking............
Addendum: In answering a DM, the rails I have inserted allow for a maximum of 2.13m from the rear of the pulley to the centre of the hitch and a "shortest" length of 1.7m. I say shortest, as the 1.5m extension rails could be cut shorter. Similarly, if a longer length was required, longer box sections (I used 32mm square 2mm wall thickness) could be added. For my TRX420, its bolted up at 1.8m.
