ATVs and Trailers

You have inspired me to definitely do the training course 😀 I'm guessing Honda repairs are not cheap.

You nailed it when you said it is just an arse covering exercise by Honda to avoid future claims.

By the by, what would you expect to pay for servicing and what are the intervals ?

Not sure wot there meant to be.
Our local dealer u had 1st service about 600-1000km's, then after that usually once/twice a year but bikes doing a decent ammount of miles 8000km's usually.
1st one was cheap enough, after that it was always 2-300 by the time u add the vat and often more

Nowadays it goes the the local back street agri boy instead of main dealer as mine is no longer under warranty. He knows honda's inside out.

1st service was quoted as £200 + from the dealer. I had mine done free of charge before actually paying for the bike. 20hrs I think it was required.

I know I kept my Subaru warranty when I got my local trusted mechanic to do it, as long as they are VAT registered and use official Subaru parts.

Is this the same with Honda quads or do you need to use a dealer? I'm assuming same as car, think it is EU law...

Is it a new bike ur buying?? Like jackfish said above think meant to be pretty sharp with 1st service, but ours said about 500ish miles (20hrs wouldofbeen 2/3 days later)
It will depend on the dealer in question, our local 1 wasn't that bothered, as long as they seen it once/twice a year, and even used to cover stuff if the back street mechanic boy done it as they knew him and he buys the parts throu them.

If it just occasional use and low mileage i would imagine once a year will be enough.
Really will depend how much they want to do it buy the book.

I know of some who aren't bothered if get serviced, just wanting to sell bikes and then swap in 2 yrs time.

1 thing is quite handy (althoui wouldn't do it in a brand new or regular serviced bike) is put some water/petrol treatment stuff throu it every now and again.
Mines have always been bad for getting water in the tank/fuel pump as there almost solely filled out of jerry cans so water builds up from condensation and they run like sh*te, put that stuff throu and it really clears the water out

New Countryboy

Got this from dealer

* Initial 20 Hrs, 100 miles or I month

Then

* 100hrs, 600 miles or 6 months

Then every

* 200hrs, 1200miles or annually

Think most important thing is to check oil in modern quads, the new engines need plenty of oil.
They reckon the old 350's would run on oil vapours for months with no harm done. Not so now.

I would imagine the miles ur doing once a year would be fine and by the book, we were doing quite high mileages and by rights should of had 4+ services a year but they weren't to bothered.
