Auto Robot Mowers

I’m with the luddites on this one, or if you prefer anti-technologists. If you can afford the kit in question and frankly have the acreage of lawn that demands such please employ a Gardener!

Just put in my second husky 305. If you have a complex shaped lawn the guide wire is very handy to ensure it cuts all of it equally.

Husky dude was telling me they have one that will cut an area the size of Dundee on its own. Its needing a bit spice up right enough

No. Not a chance.
The robot doesn’t take time off for holidays, funerals, sickness, hangovers or pregnancy. It gets up every morning and goes to work at the agreed time for the agreed period. If I need less work done I adjust the time downwards, if I need more work I adjust the time upwards, there are no bank holidays or weekends in the schedule, no time sheets and no compensation for unsocial hours.
If I want rid of the robot I don’t need to negotiate, just an add in the local rag or the off switch and its gone , if I need another robot workerI have no rows about demarcation and compensation, just get it and plug it in.
In fact the robot lawnmower has been such a success that I increased the workforce with a robot vacuum/mop this week.
So far I couldn’t be happier with the arrangement.
Best of all, I don’t have to talk to the staff, remember their names or birthdays or organise a Christmas party.
Uncaring Capitalist Nirvana.
Finally, a workforce that does what its told and takes what its given.

Another happy Husqvarna Automower owner.

I wouldn’t be without it now.

Really happy with the results and ease of use, the Husqvarna app is very easy to navigate.

Highly recommended.

My border terrier goes into full redmist kill mode every time we walk past a garden where one is working, more so if it trundles towards him.......

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, those that have bought the Husqvarna robots, are you still happy with them, what maintenance have you needed to do and what life expectancy have you got for the machine? I was looking at a Kress one, but I have some big slopes that they won't cope with so I'm looking at the AWD Husqvarnas probably the 535 AWD EPOS.

I had it serviced and parked it up mid December. I will recommission it next week, there are a few known breaks in the boundary wires and I’ll shift it over to the Spring wire until the bulbs are done.
I may shift the base, not sure yet.
I definitely have no plans to go back to the petrol lawnmower.

Mine still going strong. Service last October. Put it away for the winter early December and It came out again last week Still virtually fully charged. Not had any issues at all with it This one is wireless and works on GPS

I've had a long chat with a dealer today and supplied them with Apple Maps of the areas, he's recommending a 435X Nera but with a EPOS reference station as the 2 mown areas are about 50m apart, he has also said it might take a second one as the 2 mown areas are 3500sqm and 2,000sqm. The alternative is a new/newish shaft drive ride on with high lift tip. The saving for me will be around 1 day per week in the peak growing season and an awful lot of grass not stored on site to rot down. For some reason I keep thinking there is something I have missed!

Yes yours has a bigger capacity, but I have a lot of sloped ground as we had a noise attenuation bund built, so can't go with the bigger capacity mowers. I'm thinking I might do one and see how it goes.

Mines done about 5yrs had a new battery last year and I replaced the guide wire last year that had become quite fractured and broke a lot. Does about 400sqm delighted

I’m running a Husqvarna 420 that is now about 8 years old and needed a new battery 2 years ago.

It has been excellent and the Husqvarna phone app is simple to use.

As good as the Husqvarna has been, I would seriously consider a Kress if I had to replace it.

Just a bit of advice, we are seriously thinking about buying a Husqvarna 310 to suit the size of our lawn. In the optional extras list are wheel brushes and whell scrapers, presumably to keep the worst of the muck off the wheels. So the question is are they worth getting? If so which is the better buy.

Many thanks,

David.

I have wheel brushes. I guess as standard. I think they stop build up of grass to stop wheels slipping or jamming when it’s cutting in the wet
